Nirvana sans Kurt Cobain reunite for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductions
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions are a very special event for many rockers all over the country, but this year's event might have been probably one of it's best in years. World renouned grunge band Nirvana reunited to play a couple of their songs, after being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. But since their frontman Kurt Cobain had passed away only 20 years ago, the band enlisted the help of a couple female rockers. Joan Jett, St. Vincent, and most surprising of them all, Lorde, all backed the band up as they performed some of their most well known hits.

Ken Stringfellow in Ken: The Movie
This is a story I have found out yesterday that excites me greatly. One of my musical heroes, and all time favorite musicians, Ken Stringfellow, has announced recently that he is working with French filmmaker Claudia Rorarius on a movie project in which he plays a fictional musician named Ken who loses his state of mind after many failed shows during a tour in the US, and through many repressed memories and a nervous breakdown, he sets out to reach back into his troubled childhood and find his birth mother again.
A release date hasn't been set for the film yet, and from what I am seeing on Claudia's Tumblr, there doesn't seem to be anything else besides the plot for the movie, and details about the making of the film itself. I guess we'll have to wait and see how the movie plays out.

Whole Lotta Love vs. Helter Skelter
Now, I'm usually not that big on mashups, but this actually caught my eye, or ear. Remix artist "Soundhog" takes both "Helter Skelter" by the Beatles, and "Whole Lotta Love" and uses the multitrack stems from both songs (Mainly the vocals and bass from Helter Skelter and the instrument tracks of Whole Lotta Love.) to bring the two together to create this energetic remix that brings so much amusement to me. It kinda makes me wonder what what a heavier version of the Beatles would've been like....

Egon is gone.....
Yesterday was a sad day for fans of the Ghostbusters franchise. Harold Ramis, better known as Egon Spengler in the "Ghostbusters" films has passed away at the age of 69. Ramis was also known for his work in directing and writing. Movies he wrote and acted in included "Stripes", National Lampoon's Animal House", and "Vacation". (He didn't star in the former, but he had a cameo in the latter.) He also directed films like "Club Paradise" and "Groundhog Day".

Klaxons release second song from third album.
In my last blog post, I expressed my dissapointment with the new single from the british experimental band "Klaxons". Well, their newest song "Children of the Sun" pretty much brings back my faith that the Klaxons can still sound amazing without the use of New Rave. The song still shows the the band is in their familiar roots, but they still experiment with different types of sounds, with a drum loop that sounds very hip hop-ish, for example. And there are a few prominant guitars in the song, giving this song sort of a 70s rock sound to it.

Klaxons make their comeback after almost 4 years!
Now, the band has returned with a new album, and their first track off the album has been released. The song "There Is No Other Time" premiered on the Zane Lowe show on BBC radio and it's...well...pretty bad, by the band's standards. Now, I've been a fan of this band because of how experimental their music and lyrics were. But this? This is a horrible mixed, horrible sung, horrible organized song with painfully bad lyrics that makes me question how the rest of the album sounds. I don't know, this might be one of those things where after I listen to it a few times, I grow to like it, but I honestly can't see my beloved Klaxons creating something akin to a British boy-band. (Even though I don't mind One Direction.)

Rush - Subdivisions (Isolated Guitar)
Today's video is a song by Rush from their album "Signals". This video shows the guitar track, usually heard buried under the mix of the song itself, but it still maintains the sound that Rush has had in their songs for many years. And it also shows the amazing flanger Alex Lifeson uses on his guitar.

Bodhisattva (Isolated Rhythm Section/Guitar)
Today's video comes from well known Jazz/rock band "Steely Dan". Usually famous for their hits like "Do It Again", I decided to go for a less popular hit from the band, but it's still a well known "Steely Dan" jam. As the first track on the album "Countdown to Ecstasy", this album is a wonderful, and upbeat romp, and while the guitar is amazing in this song, I've decided to not only link that, but also to link the fantastic Rhythm section. (Drums and Bass.)

Peter Capaldi's first full day as the Doctor begins!
After the exciting, and upsetting conclusion to Matt Smith's 3 and a half year tenure as the semi-title character in Doctor Who, veteran Scottish actor Peter Capaldi takes his place as the newest incarnation of the famous Time Lord. Set pictures both leaked and offically released by the BBC show Peter Capaldi with co-star Jenna Louise Coleman, still in the costume of the 11th Doctor. While leaked photos from yesterday's filming session reveal details of Peter's first episode of Doctor. Not only will it seemingly take place in the Victorian Ages, but recurring characters Madame Vastra, and her wife Jenny and pet Sontaran Strax (Yes, really.) also make an apperance to get acquainted with the new Doctor.
