Rush - Subdivisions (Isolated Guitar)

Today's video is a song by Rush from their album "Signals". This video shows the guitar track, usually heard buried under the mix of the song itself, but it still maintains the sound that Rush has had in their songs for many years. And it also shows the amazing flanger Alex Lifeson uses on his guitar.

The Beatles Reunite...somewhat

Last night's Grammy's award show was a very big event, one that might even go down in history too. Part of the events involved former "Beatles" bandmates Paul McCarteney and Ringo Starr reuniting on stage and performing a song from Paul's album "NEW". The song in question was "Queenie Eye" and in my opinion, it couldn't of been a better choice. Why? Because it honestly sounds a lot like an old Beatles tune.

The Beatles - I Want You (Isolated Drums/Bass)

Today's video shows a rather lesser-known Beatles hit, coming from their most iconic album "Abbey Road". The song I Want You (She's So Heavy) was written about John Lennon's love for Yoko Ono, and was also the last song that the band had mixed together. It's also one of their longest, at nearly 8 minutes.

The Who - Behind Blue Eyes (Isolated Drums)

Today's video is from another british Rock staple known as The Who. This one comes from their album "Who's Next" and is one of the band's most covered songs. The producer of this track, and many other Who classics, happens to be Glyn Johns, who is also known for his drum recording technique used on this song and others, using only 4 mics!

The Rolling Stones - Gimmie Shelter (Isolated Bass)

Ok...yes, I do know that I featured the guitar track for this yesterday on my blog, but I don't have a rule against using another track from yesterday's songs, do I? Anyway, like I mentioned, this song is from the album "Let it Bleed" and is one of the many songs that shows what psychedelia sounded like in the 60s. Now, while this song is nearly the same as the guitar track, I still can't help but find myself humming this tune when I can.

The Rolling Stones - Gimmie Shelter (Isolated Guitar)

Today's video is from another classic rock artist. The Rolling Stones have been performing for about 50 years now, and while they are famous for songs such as "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" and "Under My Thumb", I decided to showcase the song "Gimmie Shelter" from Let It Bleed. This guitar track gives sort of a psychedelic vibe that shows off the sound of the 60s.

The Beatles - While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Isolated Guitar)

Today's video is yet another Beatles track, but this one has an interesting catch to it - This guitar track isn't performed by a Beatle. Eric Clapton did a guest spot on the "White Album" playing the solo guitar track on this song. While it's pretty sad that no other Clapton multitracks, besides a few partial multitrack rips, have surfaced, it is great to get a taste of what his guitar playing was like isolated.

"Helter Skelter" - The Beatles (Isolated Bass)

Today's video is a very interesting Beatles tune, and comes from one of their most experimental albums, "The White Album." The song was written by Paul McCarteney after he read The Who's Pete Townshend describe their latest single "I Can See For Miles" as "the loudest, dirtiest song the Who had ever recorded." This led to many sessions of the song recorded, which eventually lead to this. This bass track is a very interesting take for a Beatles song, and I honestly love how it sounds!

Bodhisattva (Isolated Rhythm Section/Guitar)

Today's video comes from well known Jazz/rock band "Steely Dan". Usually famous for their hits like "Do It Again", I decided to go for a less popular hit from the band, but it's still a well known "Steely Dan" jam. As the first track on the album "Countdown to Ecstasy", this album is a wonderful, and upbeat romp, and while the guitar is amazing in this song, I've decided to not only link that, but also to link the fantastic Rhythm section. (Drums and Bass.)

Peter Capaldi's first full day as the Doctor begins!

After the exciting, and upsetting conclusion to Matt Smith's 3 and a half year tenure as the semi-title character in Doctor Who, veteran Scottish actor Peter Capaldi takes his place as the newest incarnation of the famous Time Lord. Set pictures both leaked and offically released by the BBC show Peter Capaldi with co-star Jenna Louise Coleman, still in the costume of the 11th Doctor. While leaked photos from yesterday's filming session reveal details of Peter's first episode of Doctor. Not only will it seemingly take place in the Victorian Ages, but recurring characters Madame Vastra, and her wife Jenny and pet Sontaran Strax (Yes, really.) also make an apperance to get acquainted with the new Doctor.
